Horizon Creates Main Street, USA

If you found yourself being directed away from the downtown Durham plaza on a recent August Sunday, it was all Horizon's fault.  The Horizon team, in cooperation with Durham's Police Department and several downtown Durham stores and restaurants, was able to block off the "CCB" Plaza area to stage a bustling downtown scene.

Want to check out some of the cool moments from the morning of activity?  Check out the photo album on Horizon's FaceBook page and you'll see the cast and crew working together to create the ideal scene.  You'll also see pictures posted of the Stedicam operator and team that wove through the crowd catching the perfect moment of each group's interactions -- from a mom pushing a stroller, to business professionals walking to a lunch appointment, to a lady walking up to the ice cream trolley.

With the Stedicam operator and crew, the Horizon team was able to capture footage that places the viewer in the crowd, not just watching it.

Other goodies from the day (that you'll see in the Horizon Facebook album: "Creating Perfect Downtown Afternoon") include the helicopter camera!  With that equipment, Horizon's team gathered unique footage with arial views of the orchestrated movements of the downtown crowd.

This truly local production - with cast and crew from Wake, Orange, Durham counties - and set in our own downtown Durham, is a great example of how video productions of any scale can find great success with North Carolina's resources.
